Financial Aid for International Students

International students attending Bard College are eligible for financial assistance. Prospective international students who wish to be considered for financial aid must submit the Bard International Student Financial Aid Form. See below to download the required forms. Students who submit the required financial aid forms are automatically considered for all Bard College grants or scholarships for which they may be eligible. The Bard International Student Financial Aid Form must be completed each academic year for continuation of scholarship.

Bard's financial aid budget is limited. Bard makes every effort to meet the needs of its accepted and financially eligible students while staying within budget parameters. Generally, Bard will admit an academically eligible international student who can demonstrate sufficient funding to cover room, board and travel costs.

Please note: It is Bard's policy not to offer admission to any international student who is unable to demonstrate sufficient funding.

Bard Foreign Scholarships

Nonrepayable grants are awarded to non-U.S. citizens on the basis of financial need and academic achievement and promise. Typically, Bard Foreign Scholarships range from $10,000 to $50,000 annually for full-time enrollment. Many other Bard College financial aid programs are available to all applicants, including international students.

Award Procedures for International Students

Award Procedures for International Students

Awards procedures for international applicants differ somewhat from those for domestic students. Please review this information carefully.

Prospective students' files are maintained in the Admission Office along with their admission documents. The Admission Office reviews the International Student Aid Form for each student. Upon notifying the student about admission, assuming that the decision is favorable, the Financial Aid Office will prepare a response to the student about financial aid. At times the need of the student is far greater than the College's resources can meet. In such a case, the Admission Office will correspond with the student, stating that no offer of aid is being made due to that fact. The student in this case is given an opportunity to submit a new documentation, indicating available resources to be higher.

Financial Aid Packages
Students offers of financial aid typically consist of grants, loans, and campus employment. Such awards, occurring singularly or in combination, are referred to as a student's financial aid "package." Financial aid packages are mailed and e-mailed to new candidates in early April. Packaging for new candidates begins in late March. Students are notified of their package in a financial aid award letter, assuming that an admission decision has been made and Bard has received all of the necessary financial aid application materials. Packaging of returning students is done early May.
