Who Needs a Visa for Trinidad and Tobago?

How to Apply for a Trinidad and Tobago Visa?
You must follow these instructions when applying for a Trinidad and Tobago visa:
- Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Trinidad and Tobago in your home country and book a visa appointment.
- Gather all the requested documents. See ‘Trinidad and Tobago Visa Requirements’for further information.
- Submit the requested documents in person at the nearest embassy or consulate of Trinidad and Tobago in your home country.
- Wait for an answer. You will receive a visa response within seven to ten working days from the embassy of Tobago and Trinidad, to which you have submitted the documents.
Note: The application process itself will take approximately four weeks. So remember that you schedule your trip plans based on this information, especially when purchasing your flight tickets.
Trinidad and Tobago Visa Requirements
Here are all the requested documents you must submit when applying for a Trinidad and Tobago visa:
- A valid passport.
- A completedTrinidad and Tobago visa application form.
- Avalid travel health insuranceplan that covers your medical expenses while in Trinidad and Tobago.
- An accommodation proof. This document must prove that you have a place to stay while being in the country. This can also be aletter of invitation from a friend or relative.
- A bank statement document proving that you are financially stable and can finance yourself while in Trinidad and Tobago.
- A recent passport-sized photo with colours.
- Criminal record document (proving you do not post a threat to Trinidad and Tobago).
- A health record document.
- A travel itinerary.
- A letter from your employer proving that you will return to your home country after your visa expires.
- A letter from the university you study in proving that you will return to your home country after your visa expires.
- Civil status documents (as applicable: marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc).
Note: You may be requested to be interviewed when submitting your visa application documents.
Duration of a Trinidad and Tobago Visa
The duration of a Trinidad and Tobago tourist visa is 90 days. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you must apply for a Trinidad and Tobago residence permit.
Trinidad and Tobago Visa Fees
The Trinidad and Tobago visa fee depends on the type of entry visa the applicant decides to apply for. The applicant can choose between a single entry and a multiple entry visa.
- A single entry visa is $53.
- A multiple entry visa is $85.
You can finish the visa application fee payment at the embassy or consulate of Trinidad and Tobago in your home country when submitting the requested documents. After finishing the fee payment, make sure you attach the receipt to your visa application.
Long-Stay Visas for Trinidad and Tobago
There are different types of Trinidad and Tobago long-stay visas. Depending on the purpose of your stay in the country, you can apply for either one of the options mentioned below:
- Business visa. A business visa is issued to those who need to take business meetings, attend conferences, develop business contacts, etc.
- Investor visa. Successful foreign citizens willing to expand their business and invest in new projects can apply for an investor visa. If they are willing to invest in new projects, they must invest in government-approved projects.
- Missionary visa. This type of visa is issued by the minister responsible for immigration.
- Student visa. Students from foreign countries who are willing to study in Trinidad and Tobago must apply for a student visa.
- Tourist visa. A tourist visa is issued to foreign citizens who want to visit the country.
- Transit visa. You need to apply for a transit visa if you need to transit through Trinidad and Tobago to your final destination.
- Work visa. A work visa is issued to foreigners who want to work in Trinidad and Tobago.
Note: You must also apply for a Trinidad and Tobago residence permit when you apply for a long-stay visa. That applies to either one of the options mentioned above.
Residence Permit for Trinidad and Tobago
Foreign applicants who want to apply for a Trinidad and Tobago residence permit must submit their application at the Ministry of National Security (MNS). You can apply for a Trinidad and Tobago residence permit if:
- You are applying for a long-stay visa.
- You are the spouse of a citizen who is a permanent resident in Trinidad and Tobago.
- You are the parent or grandparent of a citizen who is a permanent resident in Trinidad and Tobago.
Important: The last two options are applicable if the citizen who is a permanent resident in Trinidad and Tobago proves that they will financially support you while you are in the country.
